We now invite you to discover Grasse’s perfumeries.

DISCOVER GRASSE, WORLD PERFUMERY CAPITAL

Rose centifolia, jasmine, tuberose, lavender or orange blossom, perfumes are born first in Grasse’s plants!

If Grasse is the world capital of perfumery, it owes it to its tanners who, in the 16th century, aware of the strong smell of their leather, had the idea of perfuming them. Thus the area around the city was covered with roses and jasmine to feed the stills of the very first perfumers. Five centuries have passed and Grasse’s know-how has grown. It is now expert in the art of extracting the perfumes and aromas from natural raw materials and even manages to imitate them perfectly.

HEAD OFF ON THE ROUTE TO DISCOVER GRASSE’S PERFUMES!

From cultivating perfume plants and marketing via every stage in the manufacture of perfume!

Today, the Grasse perfume industry is made up of dozens of companies – including some very famous names. Chanel still cultivates the Mai de Rose there, a flower that for almost a century has made the inimitable style of its Chanel No. 5 fragrance. Dior and his nose, François Demachy, set up a magnificent laboratory: Les Fontaines Parfumées (it is open to the public every year in autumn, during the LVMH Group Special Days). But aside from these giants, three Grasse perfumers – Galimard, Fragonard and Molinard – still cultivate a centuries-old tradition.

VISIT THE THREE HISTORIC PERFUMERS IN GRASSE

The Fragonard, Galimard and Molinard perfumers offer a perfume immersion!

Created in 1747 by Jean de Galimard who already supplied balms and perfumes to the Court of Louis XIV, Galimard is the doyen of Grasse perfumers. Not only is the factory open to the public, it is possible to go to a private workshop and make your own perfume. Founded in 1849 and then popular with Queen Victoria, Molinard is also open to the public in its large Provençal-style building. The opportunity to (re)discover Habanita, flagship perfume of the Roaring Twenties. The youngest of the trio, having started up in 1926, Fragonard is not to be outdone with its historic factory in the heart of the town and a very refined shop that includes all its products: perfumes, cosmetics, and textiles… When you visit, why not try a perfume creation workshop?
