The Cannes’ painted wall route is a brilliant tribute to the cinema in huge frescoes where you’ll have fun discovering a film title, an actor, a personality… In the city centre, in Le Suquet or near the Port, these murals show the great figures in French and world cinema: Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo, John Wayne, Bourvil, Vivien Leigh, Harold Lloyd, James Dean, and even Alfred Hitchcock. Photographers in Cannes – from father to son for almost a century!

First there was Auguste, who captured the arrival of Louis Lumière at Cannes railway station, who was the honorary president of the first festival. And then after him came Henri, his grandson and now Gilles. A family that has a collection of more than 1.7 million photographs of the Cannes Film Festival, the cinema and its personalities. A family heritage that stands out as a memory of Cannes, its festival, ceremonies and mythical festivals. The Traverso collection has been exhibited all over the world: New York, Beverly Hills, Sarajevo, Turin, Paris, London, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Shizuoka.

Cannes launches its Cannes International Series Festival!

Born in the spring of 2018, the Cannes International Series Festival – CanneSeries – aims to promote series around the world. A week on the sidelines of the MIPTV (international market for television and digital content) during which screenings, meetings and master classes take place throughout the city. As for the International Film Festival, the stars of the small screen have the right to their carpet… but theirs is pink!

The petit train du cinéma

o   One-hour guided tour of Cannes.

2 themes:

o   Croisette Tour based on the cinema theme: history of the Cannes Film Festival, the life of the luxury hotels, La Croisette, Palm Beach, anecdotes about private evenings and past celebrities in Cannes.

o   History Tour: Cannes old town, far from the glitter of La Croisette, discover the changes in architecture: from the old stones of La Castre to the modernity of the Palais des Festivals

o   8 languages (French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Written Arabic, Chinese)

o   Rates: €12/€6 (child aged 6-12) for the Big Tour (Croisette Tour + History Tour) or €8/€4 for just one of the two tours.

The Barrière Cinema-club

On La Croisette, The Majestic Barrière Cannes Hotel offers private film screenings in a cosy room.

These small-scale or even private screenings take place every Sunday evening.

The activity is completed by a glass of Champagne during the screening and a visit to one of the seven “Signature” suites at the Majestic hotel.
