The village spirit of Le Cros-de-Cagnes

With its fisherman’s houses adorned by their blue shutters, Le Cros-de-Cagnes is a gentle blend of tradition and modernity. Long ago, the area flourished because of fishing and many people from Cagnes-sur-Mer came and set up shop here in order to take part in this profitable trade. In 1866, the village was placed under the protection of Saint Peter, the patron saint of abundance. A dedicated chapel was therefore erected, and its ochre tones now rub shoulders with water sports, beach restaurants and dynamic trading activities.

Le Haut-de-Cagnes, a medieval jewel

Come to the heights to visit the Château Grimaldi and its museum of modern art! The ceilings with a baroque appearance and bright colours give the decor a typically Italian look. The massive crenelated keep at the top of the ramparts overlooks the town and offers an exceptional panorama of the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps. Artisanal know-how is on display at the Museum of Modern Jewellry; the Espace Solidor offers its visitors the chance to discover an artistic movement unique amongst modern goldsmithery.

Artistic ramble in the Domaine des Collettes

Seeking the gentleness of Mediterranean winters, Auguste Renoir lay down his hat at the Domaine des Collettes in 1907. Ancient olive trees, stone pines and orange trees quickly gave depth to many of the artist’s works. Located in the heart of the estate, the Renoir Museum bears witness to the world of the impressionist master. The painter’s last home is fascinating due to its authenticity and historic nature, its original paintings and unusual sculptures, to be discovered while taking a walk. During your visit, also take the time to stroll in the Auguste Renoir garden.

Idyllic setting at the Côte d’Azur Racecourse

The very first grand equestrian meet of the winter took place in the mid 1950s, to the backdrop of the snowy summits of the Alps opposite the azure sea. The Côte d’Azur Racecourse stands out for the beauty of its site in a lush green setting. The nobility of this sport adds to the magic of the place. Several exceptional records are entered into the historic annals of this famous location, provoking rich emotions in horse lovers or regular betters. The captivating experience of the racecourse is to be discovered during a meeting.
