Les Conversations d'Agnès and Hôtel de Paris Saint-Tropez welcome François Bernheim, author of "Eddie Barclay et moi".
François Berheim and Eddie Barclay: "Music above all...".
François Berheim is a man from the shadows, with an astonishing destiny, a destiny that was played out on a recommendation whose source he still ignores, a destiny that was played out in a Yes said immediately while the man he was meeting for the first time gave him five minutes to think, a destiny that was played out between loyalty to the Master and salvific emancipation after five years of good and loyal service. These loyal services took the blurred but demanding form of artistic assistant to Eddie Barclay, the "Emperor of the LP", the man in white, the man of eight marriages and 1,000 conquests, the man of exceptional parties in Saint-Tropez with a band that was just as exceptional, including Carlos, Eddy Mitchell, Johnny Hallyday, Stéphane Collaro and Henri Salvador.
François was 21 at the time, Eddie 47. It was July 30, 68. The adventure was just beginning, and it will be the material for a fascinating and sensitive book to be discovered at a time when an exhibition - organized by the town of Saint-Tropez and Paris-Match magazine - called "Le Sens de la fête" is being dedicated to him to mark the 70th anniversary of the creation of his famous "Barclay Records" label. But the Barclay of Bernheim's book "Barclay et moi", published by Éditons du Cherche Midi, is the Barclay of this relationship, described with tenderness and finesse by the man who was this young man with blond hair and a cowboy's gait, from an underprivileged background but with loving parents, Odette and Douglas, who always said "Yes" to their only son, sure of his talent and in his heart. Two years after his arrival, he demonstrated his talent with the formation of The Poppys and the hit "Noël 70", which sold a million and a half copies and went on to sell a total of 5 million!
