Born in 1953 in Cassel, in the Länd of Hesse in Germany, Klaus Meister created in 1972 a series of drawings and collages which he called "Man - Image - Symbol". After studying graphic design, and a stint at the national theater in Cassel, he discovered the south of France, particularly the Saint-Tropez peninsula. It travels between the port of Saint-Tropez, Paris or Berlin.
He liked the region so much that he moved to Gassin in 1989.
