The Foyer Rural de Tende - La Brigue makes movies!
Twice a month, come and discover or rediscover two cinema classics in their original version, programmed around a theme.
For this spring season, the cinéclub invites you to explore three captivating and singular universes:

The Coen Brothers:
- "The Barber" by Joel and Ethan Coen (2001):
In the summer of 1949, in a small Northern California town, Ed Crane suspects his wife Doris of cheating on him with her boss. One day, he meets a traveling salesman who offers to make his fortune. To do so, Ed must resort to blackmail and other illicit practices.
- Barton Fink" by Joel and Ethan Coen (1991):
In 1941, Barton Fink is a shy, self-effacing young playwright whose latest play is critically acclaimed in New York. His agent urges him to try his luck in Hollywood as a scriptwriter under contract to a studio, Capitol Pictures. When he arrived in Hollywood, studio boss Jack Lipnick asked him to write a B-movie about the world of wrestling. Barton Fink accepted, even though he knew nothing about the world of sports. The author settles into a large, old-fashioned, almost deserted and very strange hotel. From the very first hours, Barton Fink is overcome by the anguish of a blank page. That's when the young author meets Charlie Meadows, a strange neighbor...

The more the merrier:
- Christian Philibert's "Les 4 saisons d'Espigoule" (1999):
Through the lives of the inhabitants of the little village of Espigoule (an imaginary name), perched on the hills of the Haut-Var, a tribute to Provence, its traditions and above all the Provencal language.
- "Sur l'Adament" by Nicolas Philibert (2023):
L'Adamant is a unique Day Center: it's a floating building. Built on the Seine, in the heart of Paris, it welcomes adults suffering from psychological disorders, offering them a care setting that structures them in time and space, helping them to reconnect with the world, to regain a bit of momentum. The team who run it are among those who are doing their utmost to resist the dilapidation and dehumanization of psychiatry. This film invites us to climb aboard and meet the patients and carers who, day after day, invent the daily routine.

Japan at the movies :
-Ryūsuke Hamaguchi's "Evil Doesn't Exist" (2024):
Takumi and his daughter Hana live in the village of Mizubiki, near Tokyo. Like their elders before them, they lead a modest life in harmony with their environment. The planned construction of a "glamorous campsite" in the nearby nature park, offering city dwellers a comfortable escape to nature, will endanger the ecological balance of the site and profoundly affect the lives of Takumi and the villagers...
- "Perfect days" by Wim Wenders (2023):
Hirayama works maintaining Tokyo's public toilets. He thrives on a simple life and a highly structured daily routine. He has a passion for music, books and trees, which he likes to photograph. His past resurfaces through unexpected encounters. A moving and poetic reflection on the search for beauty in everyday life.

Each screening will be followed by an opportunity to share your impressions and discuss the films.
