"At the heart of Marseille's vibrant gypsy jazz scene, Basilic Swing revisits
the great standards of French chanson for one concert.
Born under the virtuoso fingers of guitarist Django Reinhardt, gypsy jazz - or
French jazz - draws its essence from the rich musical tradition of the itinerant peoples
of Eastern Europe. A veritable ferryman of sounds, the gypsies have always been able to
assimilate and reinvent the music they have encountered along the way, a process that
is sometimes referred to as ‘manouchisation’.
This year, with the same approach, Basilic Swing invites you on a musical journey
where gypsy jazz blends with French chanson, for an evening full
of swing and emotion.
Two guitars, a double bass, a violin and a clarinet will take you on a journey to
the crossroads of genres."
