This year's festival opens Sospel's "Cinema Week". L'Orgue celebrates 130 years since the birth of cinema! L'arroseur arrosé - The films of the Lumière brothers - Excerpts from the documentary Lumière! The adventure begins by Thierry Frémaux.
8:30pm Aperitif on the church square: talk about the film and the history of organ improvisation at the cinema Family and children's evening.
9pm Film screening (60min.): for one evening, the church hosts a large screen showing a silent film accompanied by live organ improvisation. In co-production with the municipality of Sospel and the "Cinéma d'hier et d'aujourd'hui" association.
This year marks the 130th anniversary of the invention of cinema by the Lumière brothers. In 1895, Louis and Auguste Lumière revolutionized the moving image with the Cinématographe, capturing scenes of everyday life that would go on to mark the history of the seventh art. From La Sortie de l'usine Lumière to L'Arrivée d'un train en gare de La Ciotat, their films still marvel at their simplicity and modernity. As part of the anniversary celebrations, an exceptional screening of their work, accompanied by a ciné-concert, will bring back to life the poetry of reality and the unspoiled emotion of the first moments of cinema.

Discover an exceptional "heritage to listen to": historic organs! Following the Route Royale from Nice to Turin via Tende, the touring festival offers a program of concerts and film-concerts with international musicians... A cultural and artistic event not to be missed between Nice and Turin, the Route Royale des Orgues international festival is a major player in the cultural, artistic and human links in this cross-border area. Since 2002, it has played an essential role in preserving and promoting the Route Royale's exceptional heritage of historic organs. This 22nd edition offers some thirty events to discover these remarkable instruments in 14 towns and villages, thanks to two proposals: organ concerts given by internationally renowned artists, and seven "L'Orgue fait son cinéma!" evenings featuring silent cinema films accompanied by the great improvisers of the moment, such as Paul Goussot, Freddy Eichelberger, Gabriele Agrimonti, Guy-Baptiste Jaccottet and Quentin Guérillot. These concerts are organized in collaboration with the Cinéma de Beaulieu. The fact that our concerts are free of charge reflects our commitment to "elitism for all", a value dear to Jean Vilar.
