The pianist whose first name, Montgomery aka "Monty", is a tribute to the famous general, presents his new album: "D-Day". It features a collection of pieces written during the war, as well as original compositions.
The result is swinging, virtuoso jazz, eloquent and colorful, joyful and effervescent, full of sensitivity.
D-Day brings together the quintessence of two new sessions. Here we hear a Monty Alexander more introspective than usual, sure of the time it takes to hit the right note, the one that only comes with a sense of assurance.
With the brilliant young Luke Sellick and Jason Brown, his current rhythm section, he finds partners in unison with his harmonic and rhythmic digressions, in total fusion, and always pierced by the heady beat of reggae and the contagious sway of swing.
More than ever, Monty Alexander plays "by ear", spontaneously. And it is indeed the privilege of some great ears to be able to access a total freedoḿ of expression.
Reservations online (exclusively) and on site, on concert evenings from 7 p.m.
