The guided tour of the Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs is led by a Guide-Conférencier approved by the French Ministry of Culture, who will explain all the particularities of the very influential and numerous Confréries de Pénitents from the Middle Ages onwards.
The Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs, or Chapelle de la Miséricorde, is a landmark building in Menton, built in 1615 at the instigation of Prince Honoré II Grimaldi and Father Laurent de Brindes. Originally a Capuchin convent, it is distinguished by its sober style and 35-meter bell tower.

In 1818, the chapel became the headquarters of the Confrérie des Pénitents Noirs, dedicated to charitable works and still active today. Every Good Friday, the chapel is at the heart of a solemn procession...
