The Antelapsis ensemble offers a recited version of the Dit de Poissy, augmented by music and illuminations, to plunge today's listener into a complete medieval springtime journey where we follow Christine de Pisan, a feminist before her time.
This medieval music tells the story of Christine de Pisan's journey from Paris to her daughter's abbey in Poissy in April 1400.
True to her feminist values, Christine de Pisan borrows the themes set out by Guillaume de Machaut in his Jugement du roi de Behaigne, offering a version that highlights the Lady and tilts the judgment in her favor.
Along the way, the wooded roads where the birds sing, and the rustle of the water on the islands of the Seine, are the scene of springtime nature, a veritable showcase for the lovers.
A visit to the abbey, its architecture and customs, and the contemplation of its orchard delight Christine's company.
at the Hôtel de Bourbon. On the way home, two of Christine's friends debate who is more unhappy in love: the Lady, whose lover is held prisoner in faraway lands, or the squire, spurned by the Lady with whom he is in love. Unable to decide between them, they appeal to a judge, the recipient of the Dit, who will decide the case.
