Witnesses to a rich musical history, the organs of the Roya Valley, built between the XVIIᵉ and XIXᵉ centuries, constitute an exceptional sound heritage.
Among them, the instrument built in 1807 by the famous Serrassi family stands out.
Among them, the instrument built in 1807 by the famous Serrassi family stands out.
A fascinating and complex instrument, the organ offers an astonishingly rich palette of sounds - from the "human voice" to the "bass drum" and the delicate "campanelles". Entirely handcrafted by skilled artisans, each instrument is a unique work of art.
To celebrate this heritage, the Festival International des Orgues des Vallées Roya et Bévéra was founded in 2002. Every summer, from late July to mid-August, the valley's churches vibrate to the rhythm of concerts and recitals performed by internationally renowned musicians, under the direction of Silvano Rodi, titular organist at Monaco's Sainte-Dévote church and founder of the festival.
