Unique walk to and across the plain of the Maures, a very characteristic landscape of vineyards, pines and rather particular rose sandstone slabs.

Nice walk going from La Garde-Freinet down to the plain of the Maures resembling in some places the African savannah.
The path is shady at the beginning and crosses later a unique landscape in France.

  • From the Teilles car park, follow path 9.
It runs along the valley and goes up to the RD 558 at the place called l'Oratoire. Cross the RD with care and take the track opposite.
At the crossroads of 4 paths, take the one on the right.
After 200 m take the E96 Les Maximins track (barrier). At the next crossroads, take the track that goes down to the left. When you reach the pumping station
(small pink building), continue along the road until you come out of the track (barrier) and go along the vines taking the right-hand path. At the crossroads with a small shed, turn right, then take the first path on the left. Follow the track that leads to the Pont Romain through a landscape of umbrella pines and characteristic pink sandstone rocks. Near a 9 on a tree, leave the path to cross the rocky site on the left and reach the Roman Bridge (it is not immediately visible).
Take the same path for the return journey.
