Long Street is the backbone of the Old Town. Located behind the modern quays, Bennett and Bonaparte, it is a parallel life that takes place in this long 270-metre artery that connects Place Saint-Julien to Place du Cap.
The Longue Street, parallel to the Quai Bonaparte, is the main artery of the old town. Between the Saint-Julien gate in the East and the Saint-Antoine gate in the Southwest, it follows the route of the ancient Roman road Julia Augusta. Along it stood, until the beginning of the fifteenth century, the rampart that protected the city on the sea side.
