Created especially for the Festival, this baroque adventure is brought to life by Nice-based company La Semeuse and ensemble La Chambre. Together, they take you on "Mission Antony and Cleopatra: a baroque investigation to the sound of Shakespeare and Purcell".
This tour-show, conceived as a breathless investigation, takes you through the alleys and up to the castle of the medieval village, to the rhythm of Shakespeare's words and Purcell's spellbinding arias. Between Dido & Aeneas, King Arthur and other treasures of the English Baroque repertoire, spectators will enjoy an immersive, playful and poetic experience. But watch out: the actors are in a race against time to find the play Antony and Cleopatra... and perform it in time for the King!
Directed by Rowena Cociuban, with musical direction by Jean-Sébastien Beauvais, this is an action-packed production accessible to all audiences. The event is free and open to all, in partnership with CARF and Escapades Baroques. A festive event for the whole family, combining living heritage and Baroque fantasy.
