A huge 57 hectares, the Mont Boron Forest Park nestles on the hill of the same name between Nice and Villefranche. Athletes and Sunday walkers appreciate its rare vegetation and its exceptional view over the entire Côte d'Azur.
The place was probably the hunting ground of the first inhabitants of the region coming from the Terra-Amata cave, 400 000 years ago.
After being laid bare in the Middle Ages to prevent the Saracens from hiding there, Mount Boron was reforested in the 1860s under the leadership of Mr. Demontzey, a water and forestry engineer. The park now covers 57 hectares covered by 11 kilometers of walking trails.
