Tree of the Fabaceae family, Bauhinia purpurea is native to southern China and Southeast Asia.

The Bauhinia is a deciduous tree with a spectacular bloom of many pink flowers with purple shades. The simple, round, inverted-hearted leaves, split at the apex, grow back during and after flowering. The fruits are flattened bean-shaped pods of brown color, filled with small oval seeds of black color.
