A shrub native to southeastern Australia, where it often grows along streams and swamps along the coastline, Callistemon citrinus can be grown outdoors in hot, dry climates.
Growing to 3 to 4 meters tall, it has evergreen foliage with dark green leaves that give off a slight lemon scent when crumpled.
Its bright red flowers bloom in early May until the first frost and their cylindrical spike shape
Their cylindrical spike shape has earned them the nickname of "Bottle Rinse".
