Pinus maritima is a member of the Pinaceae family. It is native to the coastal areas of the western Mediterranean and the southern parts of the European shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
It grows in arid and poor soils and can reach a height of 20 to 30 meters when it reaches maturity, around the age of 40-50 years, its life span being about 200 years.
