To say that Carol Robinson is a French-American composer and clarinetist is a bit of an understatement when it comes to embracing the eclecticism of her career and her passions.
Equally at ease with repertoire and experimental creation, she performs in major venues and festivals around the world (Festival d’Automne, MaerzMuzik, Archipel, RomaEuropa, Wien Modern, CTM Berlin, Angelica Geometry of Now, Crossing the Line, Huddersfield, etc.). Passionate about improvisation, she plays with musicians from diverse backgrounds, and regularly collaborates with choreographers, visual artists, and photographers. Author of around a hundred works, she receives commissions from institutions such as Radio France, the Ministry of Culture, as well as international ensembles and festivals. Carol Robinson has created numerous pieces by combining electronics with acoustic sounds. Three of these works were released by MODE RECORDS in 2023. Her recent discography reflects the breadth of her work. In addition to her own compositions, there are also monographs on major contemporary composers (Scelsi, Nono, Feldman, Berio, Radigue and Niblock), as well as classical music, jazz and alternative rock. She was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2014.
