The Nice Classic Festival invites you to an evening of chamber music, performed by exceptional soloists, in the unique setting of the Cloister of the Cimiez Monastery.
Oboist Alex Gattet and pianist Jonas Vitaud will open the program with Schumann's Three Romances for Oboe and Piano, Op. 94, a work of great lyrical tenderness. The journey will continue with two maritime evocations for solo piano: A Boat on the Ocean, from Ravel's Miroirs, and El Puerto, from the first volume of Albéniz's Iberia. Alex Gattet will then reunite with Jonas Vitaud for Britten's delicate Two Insect Pieces, miniatures full of vivacity and refinement.
In the second half, violinist Olivier Charlier and pianist Emmanuel Strosser will perform Guillaume Lekeu's Sonata for Violin and Piano, a peak of romantic emotion, before concluding with Shostakovich's Five Pieces for Violin and Piano, a collection with at times melancholic, at times dance-like tones.
A vibrant encounter between breath, strings and waves, carried by the complicity of major artists from the classical scene.
