The association has a unique status in France, established by a 1617 decree issued under the reign of Duke Charles Emmanuel of Savoy. This decree confers on the association the privilege of managing fishing leases in the commune of Tende. On the strength of this historic heritage, the association is working to revitalize fishing in its area, which was severely affected by storm Alex in October 2020.
Since the beginning of 2022, the association has been organized around a president and a six-member bureau, as well as a board of nearly twenty active members. Its main missions are to
- Promote fishing in the Haute-Roya area
- Contribute to river clean-up and maintenance
- Protect the local fishing environment
- Ensure the restocking of water bodies
- Collaborate with downstream associations, in particular the A.A.P.P.M.A. de la Haute Roya, a partner and member of the Roya agreement.
The fishing territory is characterized by its richness, with nearly 120 kilometers of rivers and mountain streams. In addition to these rivers and streams, three mid-altitude lakes, open from May 1, offer ideal conditions for more leisurely fishing. In addition, 25 high mountain lakes, located at altitudes of over 1,800 metres in the Mercantour National Park, are open from the third Saturday in June, offering fishing experiences in a remarkable natural environment.
New sport fishing routes, adapted in particular to "no kill" fishing, have also been set up and are accessible from spring onwards.
The association's aim is to preserve, maintain and enhance the richness of its territory, in order to offer anglers high-quality experiences. All this information is available on the association's website.
