Vestige of the Commanderie created by the Templars in the twelfth century and had a vocation both religious, military and agricultural. The Templars possessed indeed a vast operation in the Sauvebonne Valley. Restored, the tower is now an exhibition space. enhancement lighting. Open all year.
The Knights Templar tower, also known as the Saint Blaise chapel, is a listed historic monument. It is the last vestige of the commandery founded by the Knights Templar in Hyères. It is a major building of an extremely rare type, originally consisting of 2 superimposed chapels (or a chapel surmounted by a guard room) and covered by a terraced roof.

After the Order's disappearance in 1312, the chapel passed into the hands of the Knights of Malta, who leased it to various individuals until 1673, when the building was transferred to the town under an emphyteutic lease. In 1770, the municipality moved into the building, where it remained until 1914. During this period, the building underwent major alterations. New windows were added and a new tiled level was added to the original terrace.

After housing various unions and associations, the chapel was completely restored between 1985 and 1992, and now houses temporary exhibitions.

You can visit the chapel all year round, either on your own or with one of our guided tours. The chapel is also the setting for an exciting "children's" investigation into the Templar treasure.

The Templar Tower is also a stop-off point on your tour of the historic center and medieval town.
