10 unmissable summer festivals on the Côte d'Azur

Inseparable from the Côte d’Azur summer, the festivals attract large crowds each year and contribute to the tourist attractiveness of our region. Jazz, dance, electro, song, rock… All genres are represented with super attractive posters.

1.     THE CRÈME FESTIVAL – VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER

📆 16 – 18 June 2023

The Crème Festival in Villefranche-sur-Mer is an unmissable cultural event that ignites the senses and delights art lovers every year. Nestled on the French Riviera, this dynamic festival celebrates creativity in all its forms. The narrow streets of Villefranche are transformed into a living canvas where artists, musicians, dancers and actors come together to deliver spellbinding performances.

For three days, the Crème Festival pays homage to the identity and authenticity of the Côte d’Azur. On the programme: boat trips to sea, yoga lessons, a spotlight on the current music scene, DJ sets, local gastronomy, etc. Day and night, the Crème Festival invites you to a unique environment between the sandy beach and the citadel.

2.    LE MAS DES ESCARAVATIERS – PUGET-SUR-ARGENS

Concerts beneath the heavens, beside a swimming pool, in the garden of a Provencal farmhouse… Plus evenings, musical brunches, pool parties, etc. in an enchanting setting and a friendly atmosphere!

Le Mas is a unique identity in the music festival landscape. The concerts take place amidst the vines and olive trees, in an intimate setting that is keen to preserve quality and conviviality.

3.    SUMMER EVENINGS – ALPES-MARITIMES DEPARTMENT

The Summer Evenings will transform the Alpes-Maritimes Department into an immense open-air stage with more than 450 free shows in 157 towns in the regions. From jazzy atmospheres to classic melodies, via international variety, the theatre, humour and even the world of cabaret, discover an eclectic programme that’s full of colour! In total, over 1,500 artists and technicians swing into action in the department’s towns and villages for moments of sharing and emotion!

4.    THE GUITAR NIGHTS – BEAULIEU-SUR-MER

📆 6 – 8 July 2023

In the Provencal setting of a garden full of old olive trees, the Guitar Nights put the guitar in pride of place for three evenings.

Every year, the Guitar Nights festival in Beaulieu-sur-Mer attracts a large audience. The programme intends to be as eclectic as possible and brings every generation together around music and the beautiful sounds of the guitar.

5.    JAZZ IN JUAN

📆 10 – 21 July 2023

The 62nd jazz festival in Juan-les-Pins will take place from 10 to 21 July 2023 at the Gould Pine Forest, in a magnificent setting a stone’s throw from the beach. Top billing is especially feminine, with artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Melody Gardot, Angelique Kidjo, Fatoumata Diawara and Samara Joy…

Note: The first “Jazz in Juan”, created in tribute to a famous adopted son of Antibes who was none other than Sidney Bechet, was the root of several other festivals that spread across the whole of Europe. Claude Nobs, creator of the great event that is the Montreux Festival, himself said: “If I hadn’t been to Antibes, Montreux wouldn’t exist.” The concept was revolutionary. For the first time, the general public could discover the main players in the great saga that is jazz.

6.    NICE JAZZ FESTIVAL

📆 18 – 21 July 2023

The Nice Jazz Festival returns from 18 to 21 July with its two stages: Massena and Théâtre de Verdure, simultaneously and with a programme worthy of its standing. In the line up for this edition: Iggy Pop and his jazz project (Free), H.E.R, Melody Gardot, Parcels, Curtis Harding, Ibrahim Maalouf, Clara Luciani and many breakthrough artists.

AN ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE JAZZ FESTIVAL

Committed to a sustainable development policy, the Town of Nice has had the Nice Jazz Festival evolve into an environmentally responsible festival.

➥ Pocket ashtrays are handed out to smokers and 60 “Recycling Points” are available to keep the site clean.

➥ Reusable cups in the event’s colours are distributed at every drinks stand.
Festivalgoers have the option of returning these at the end of the concert and collecting their €1 deposit, or keeping them as a souvenir collector’s item.

7.    MONTE-CARLO SUMMER SPORTING FESTIVAL

📆 18 – 21 July 2023

Since its creation in 1974, the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival hosts the biggest stars, it’s its trademark.

It is the heir to over 150 years of enchantment, and through its exceptional programme continues to make Monaco, the Salle des Étoiles, the Place du Casino and the Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo essential locations for summer evenings.

Discover Chris Isaak, Ricky Martin Symphonic, Norah Jones, Seal, Sting, MIKA, Eros Ramazzotti, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Tarkan, MICHAEL, the Magic of Michael Jackson for the Fight Aids Monaco Evening or Robbie Williams for the Monegasque Red Cross Gala during this 2023 edition.

8.  MENTON MUSIC FESTIVAL

📆 25 July – 5 August 2023

The 74th edition of this prestigious festival that sees the greatest orchestras, the most famous musicians and the most beautiful voices of our time perform on the square opposite the Basilica of Saint-Michel [Saint Michael].

Perched above the sea, overlooked by the front and belltower of a wonderful baroque church, protected by the ancient broadsword of the statue of Saint-Michel and covered by the starry sky, for seventy years the Menton Music Festival has hosted the biggest classical artists in the world.

Created by André Böröcz and directed by Paul-Emmanuel Thomas, the Menton Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Europe.

9.  ELECTRONIC BEACHES – CANNES

📆 4 – 6 August 2023

Since 2006 The Electronic Beaches in Cannes, one of the biggest European “beach parties” attracts party-goers from the world over, who have come to shake their stuff on the prettiest beach on La Croisette and on the roof of the Palais des Festivals!

3 days of party, 15 hours of non-stop music, 40,000 m² of dancefloor, 4 stages, 3 After Parties until 5 a.m., over 60 guest artists from the French and international electronic music scene, a true festival village on the Palais forecourt, a bustling dancefloor as of 2 p.m., and over 40,00 festival-goers who impatiently await this unmissable event on the Côte d’Azur!

10.  CROSSOVER FESTIVAL – NICE

📆 30 – 31 August 2023

The Crossover represents the meeting of different musical genres. By combining rap, electro, rock, hip-hop and more, this festival offers a rich and varied listening experience for music lovers, no matter their favour style.

Created by the Panda Events association, for more than 10 years the Crossover Festival has been invading unusual and unprecedented locations in the Nice area conurbation (the former abattoirs, the opera, Colline du Château, Villa Arson, the Providence chapel). The festival recently found a new home in the outdoor Théâtre de Verdure. This pastoral and pleasant setting, located beside the sea and surrounded by palm and cypress trees, is reminiscent of the architecture of Ancient Greece.
