NICE, A PIONEER IN STREET ART

Did you know that the founding father of street art was from Nice? Often described as a humanist and a rebel, Ernest Pignon-Ernest has distinguished himself for over 50 years through his committed works.

Today, many of his creations showcase the diversity and richness of Nice’s graffiti artists. Like “Gaïa et ses papillons”, the first street art graffiti by the famous Otom.

Under the tunnel of the Allianz Riviera stadium, a brilliant tribute is paid to the OGC Nice club by six renowned artists. The other part is a legacy of the Tour de France’s passage through Nice.

Destination Château de Crémat to discover the latest work by the excellent César Malfi. You’ll discover a large portrait of Nikaïa, the Greek nymph who gave her name to the city of Nice!

Large-scale mural performances and participatory workshops are the order of the day at this international urban art festival, held every All Saints’ Day.

The aim of the event is to promote urban art while involving local residents.

This innovative creative process, which is unique in the area, gives a different view of the Antibes environment and highlights the value of art in public spaces.

From the roads along the beaches to the alleys of Old Antibes, nineteen large-scale works have been created by leading artists on the Côte d’Azur Street Art scene.

AT THE HEART OF URBAN ART IN GRASSE

Recognized as a Ville d’Art et d’Histoire (Town of Art and History), Grasse puts the spotlight on culture and art in all its forms. At the entrance to the town, the traverse de la gare reflects the town’s identity.

Illuminated by the talent of local artist Clément Dixneuf, it offers pedestrians a contemplative pause along the route to the town center. Women picking flowers in the fields rub shoulders with the vats of Grasse’s biggest perfume factories, in which they will finish their work. Poetic as can be!

This summer, Grasse is hosting the first edition of theUrban Poetry Festival on the theme of “Flower Power”, an original and creative celebration of street art fromJune 15 to August 31, 2024.

Orchestrated by two emblematic figures in the field, Nasty and Pascal Langlais, this festival promises to leave its mark and redefine the urban space of the world’s perfume capital by fusing urban art with the city’s perfume tradition.

ALL YEAR ROUND STREET ART AT LA COLLE-SUR-LOUP

In 2024, the La Colle-sur-Love Festival, from February 7 to March 9, becomes a benchmark for street art on the Côte d’Azur. Under the artistic direction of Anthony Alberti, aka Mr One Teas, a dozen French artists will create some twenty live works, offering an immersive artistic experience.

The festival also features lectures, workshops for children and adults, and live painting sessions throughout the month. These activities aim to bring the public closer to urban art and involve them directly in the creative process.

In addition to the festival, La Colle-sur-Loup has a permanent exhibition of works by Faben and César Malfi, as well as Eric Garence’s impressive anamorphic staircase. The town thus becomes an open-air museum, celebrating urban art and attracting street-art enthusiasts to the Côte d’Azur.

PÉONE DANS LA PEAU :
A CELEBRATION OF EPHEMERAL ART NEAR VALBERG

Brushes, pigments, live models… Here’s what you can marvel at during the “Péone dans la Peau” event on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Artistic performances and participatory workshops will take center stage on this day dedicated to bodypainting, transforming Péone’s alleyways into an open-air art gallery.

The aim of the event is to change the way people look at our built heritage, and to raise awareness of the importance of preserving it. This innovative creative process, unique in the region, offers a different vision of Péone’s environment and showcases ephemeral art in public spaces.

From the village’s narrow streets to its bustling squares, models’ bodies were transformed into living canvases under the hands of five local artists.

With its rich architectural heritage, a guided tour gave visitors the chance to see the village in a different light and appreciate the unique works created for the occasion.

THE FESTIVAL D’ART DE MASSOINS, A NOT-TO-BE-MISSED EVENT

The Massoins Art Festival, eagerly awaited by street art fans, returns on June 22 and 23, 2024!

This year, a special place is given to women artists to discover this art from another angle.

Djoulay La Papaye, Florence Fabris, Andréa Drw, Moustache Bleue and others will share their passion with Cannes-based Trace mat and artist FREE.

Following their inspiration, they’ll let you discover their worlds, and express their experiences and emotions through their frescoes, canvases and other works.

From abstract to hyper-realism, from glass to steel, Biot’s Nocturnes d’Art promises an unforgettable mix of styles, materials and street art performances every summer!

Numerous works of street art mix with contemporary works in Théoule-sur-mer.

Vallauris Golfe-Juan ‘s heritage is also revealed through César Malfi ‘s frescoes depicting Napoleon’s landing at Golfe-Juan. The genius Picasso, who left an indelible mark on the town, is shown in a large-scale portrait by artist Pleks.

In just 5 days, street artist César Malfi created a monumental fresco entitled “The New Florence” in Valbonne Sophia Antipolis. Thirsty for knowledge and challenges, passionate about art and history, he reinvents Antiquity and its great characters in his own way, questioning their identity and place in today’s society.
