Mountain biking in a resort: i tested the bike Park in Auron!

1½ hours from Nice, the Auron resort offers 50 km of downhill bike trails. An original way to discover the Côte d’Azur mountains and meet some marmots! You can take your own bike or hire an electric bike and protective equipment at one of the resort’s many shops.

What is downhill biking exactly?

Downhill biking also called DH (DownHill) consists of descending specifically designed trails by bike.

You don’t have to be a pedalling enthusiast to enjoy this downhill sport: the climbs are done by chairlift. It’s quite impressive the first time, you cover yourself with head-to-toe protection: back protector, knee pads, elbow pads, integral helmet. Everyone measure the risks they want to take! Every difficulty on a track is indicated by a sign: you can choose to do it, or go round it.

In Auron, there’s something for everyone…

Beginner or expert!

Just like for skiing, you choose the difficulty of the slope: green, blue, red or black! The Auron Bike Park has 15 downhill runs, and each one is clearly marked by coloured panels. Which do I prefer? The blue slopes! They are fun, with small wooden modules. A special mention for the « Olympic » slope.
Could you do all the slopes in one day? Impossible! You’ll have to come back.

Downhill biking – a different and original way…

to travel in the Côte d’Azur mountains!

My advice: stop at the top of the Blainon chairlift to admire the view of the Mercantour National Park! On the other side of the valley, you can see the majestic Mont-Ténibre, the highest point of the Tinée at an altitude of 3031 meters. Explore the Las Donnas area – usually you’ll see some marmots! Flocks of sheep also often roam this area. In short, downhill biking is a fun way to discover the Côte d’Azur mountains.

Who hasn’t dreamed of changing lives one day and earning a living doing something you love? Two years ago, I left my job as an engineer to become a photographer, videographer and digital nomad. Living in Nice, I fell under the spell of the Côte d’Azur. This region has made me what I am today: a fulfilled sportsperson that loves and respects nature. I share the beauty of this area and its many sporting possibilities and show you the things that made me fall in love with it!
