THE PREPARATION CENTRE FOR THE 2024 GAMES: CAGNES-SUR-MER

Ideally located between Nice and Cannes, the town owes its charm in particular to the medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes, from where the Grimaldi chateau-museum overlooks the town. A number of celebrities and artists, including Renoir, have stayed or lived in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Fully renovated, the Renoir Museum and its Les Collettes garden offers visitors a site just as it was known to Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Cagnes-sur-Mer has also become a real shopping destination thanks to Polygone Riviera, the number 1 open-air shopping centre in France. Not to mention a rich events programme all year round and its famous Côte d’Azur Hippodrome.

Cagnes-sur-Mer is also brimming with activities and water-based leisure options along its seafront: 3 km of pebble beaches bordered by palm trees with shops, restaurants and private beaches. Cagnes-sur-Mer is a destination with multiple faces that knows how to win over visitors seeking authenticity on the Côte d’Azur.

CÔTE D’AZUR HIPPODROME

With the azure blue sky above the enclosure and the big blue sea in the background, a horse couldn’t ask for a more noble setting to accomplish its exploits.

The second-largest racecourse outside of Paris, the Côte d’Azur Hippodrome organizes over 80 race meets a year. With a total area of 60 hectares, it can hold 12,000 spectators, of which 6,000 in the stand and has 2,000 parking spaces within its boundary. With its 900 stables and 150 beds, the Côte d’Azur Hippodrome also has facilities allowing it to host under the best conditions. The Hippodrome is also intended to serve as the training centre for the 2024 Olympic Games.  It will house competitors, horses and grooms for the three disciplines: Olympic and Paralympic dressage, and show jumping (the official trials for which will take place at the Versailles Hippodrome).

With the Mercantour as a backdrop and compliance with all the technical specifics of their discipline, riders will have an idyllic setting for training for the 2024 Olympic Games.
