THE PREPARATION CENTRE FOR THE 2024 GAMES:
Cap d’Ail

Overlooked by the sumptuous “Dog’s Head” mountain range, the “Sea Amphitheatre” merits its name: located on the seafront between the port of Cap d’Ail and Marquet beach, famed for their restaurants and nautical activities, it offers a direct view of the Mediterranean and the Côte d’Azur sunshine. You only need to travel a few metres to reach its neighbour, the principality of Monaco. Its location and its U-shaped layout with stands thus make this space that is urban, festive and disabled-friendly, a preferential location for hosting extracurricular events, musical and artistic shows, and sporting events. Since 2021, it has also been classed as an “official 3×3 basketball court”.

As of 2018, Cap d’Ail has played a part in democratizing 3×3 basketball by hosting French Basketball Federation tournaments and Open Plus, the qualifier for Open France every season.

THE BENEFITS OF THE PREPARATION CENTRE (3X3 BASKETBALL)

The preparation centre is ideally located in the sunshine and beside the sea!

In case of bad weather, it also has indoor facilities: the St Antoine space, with a 2,000 m² multi-sports centre, located 100 m from the main site.

While it offers the natural possibility to practice swimming almost directly in the sea, the centre is supplemented by numerous sporting facilities accessible within a radius of just 300 m:

  • Multi-sports complex with a climbing wall,
  • Multi-purpose hall,
  • Luxury fitness room,
  • Beach volleyball and pétanque courts,
  • Table tennis,
  • Nautical activities,
  • Tennis courts,
  • The “Didier Deschamps” football stadium, which was named in the presence of the double World Champion in 2018!

On a practical side, this centre rubs shoulders with the port of Cap d’Ail and the Riviera Marriott Hotel (4-star), as well as several restaurants. The Principality of Monaco and its Fontvieille commercial centre are just a few minutes’ walk away.

SEA AMPHITHEATRE

Its location and its U-shaped layout with stands with approximately 500 seats makes this space that is urban, festive and disabled-friendly, a preferential location for hosting live shows and sporting events. There are a multitude of activities offered within a 3-minute walk. Changing rooms, rest areas and a snack area are close by. It is possible to eat on site. Varied offers from the surrounding restaurants. This facility is completed by a second one, equivalent and totally covered, allowing the teams to practice their activity indoors and thus be protected if it rains.

The Sea Amphitheatre is also a stop on the “Sport Caravan” tour, organized by the Comité Départemental Olympique et Sportif 06 [Department 06 Olympic and Sports Committee], dedicated to promoting sport among young people.

The site also hosts live shows every summer, such as the town’s concerts and shows for almost 20 years now, as well as “Summer Evenings” for the Alpes-Maritimes Department.

SAINT ANTOINE SPACE (COVERED PITCH)

Made available by the neighbouring Principality, the Saint Antoine space is the fallback facility for the preparation centre, in case of bad weather.

In particular, it is equipped with a bright, 2,000 m² multi-sports centre with stands, in this instance comprising 4 basketball courts that can form 8 courts for 3×3 basketball.

These facilities are accessible to everyone, whether able-bodied or disabled, and is located close to the main site (100 m) and to other sporting infrastructures (located within a radius of 300 m).
