The Côte d’Azur is full of small secret coves, unspoilt beaches, and islands to discover – you just have to know where to look. Discover my five favourite spots for stand up paddleboarding (SUP). You’re free!

Stand-up paddleboarding spot 1: Iles de Lérins, the gems of the Côte d’Azur!

Take your paddleboard and explore this protected archipelago off Cannes, venture into the small turquoise coves or even get closer to the famous Royal Fort where the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask was incarcerated. But be careful, crossing from Cannes to the Lérins islands is strongly discouraged: there are strong currents and lots of boats sailing in the area. In addition, most paddleboards are not allowed to go outside a 300 metre strip. The easiest way to get there is to take the boat from Cannes. With more than 10 departures per day, it’s easy and fast!

Stand-up paddleboarding spot 2: Cap Dramont and Ile d’Or!

Facing the Cap du Dramont beach, the Ile d’Or is a real challenge. Legend has it that Hergé was inspired by it when writing Tintin and the Black Island. Located about a hundred meters from the shore, it’s easy to go round on a stand up paddle board. The sea bed here is famous for scuba diving: you’re sure to see hundreds of damselfish below you – the small black or blue fish characteristic of the Mediterranean. Note that the Ile d’Or is private. In fact, if you see a flag flying at the top of the tower, it means it is inhabited.

Stand-up paddleboarding spot 3: a trip on the Siagne!

This soothing trip is perfect for summer evenings. Leave Robinson beach in Mandelieu-La-Napoule, flee the waves and discover the calm of the Siagne. Here, you zigzag between ducks, swans, and geese! Go around Ile Robinson and explore the meanders of the Siagne. On the way back, if you still have some energy left, go and discover the famous Château de la Napoule, a 14th century historical monument. If you don’t have one of your own, you can rent stand-up paddleboards on the beach.

Stand-up paddleboarding spot 4: Cap d’Antibes and Baie des Milliardaires!

From the Port of L’Olivette, explore Cap d’Antibes by stand-up paddleboard! It would be a shame not to take a break for a swim. Along the way, you will go past unspoilt coves and incredible beaches, some of which are only accessible by boat. Don’t miss the famous Milliardaires beach, a secret place known only to the Antibes locals. Bring a towel and a bathing suit to take full advantage of its turquoise waters. Isn’t it fantastic to be able to combine sport and idleness on the Côte d’Azur?
