26th Luceram nativity circuit

2 December 2023 to Sunday 7 January 2024

Come and discover the 26th Lucéram Nativity Circuit, with more than 450 traditional nativity scenes made by the residents of the village exhibited throughout its route!

FOLLOW THE marked CIRCUIT TO DISCOVER MORE THAN 450 nativity scenes

Every year for 26 years, the residents of Lucéram, a village located at an altitude of 664 metres not far from Nice, have exhibited more than 450 nativity scenes in all areas of the village, both outside: under porches, in wash houses, window borders, shop windows, in the Tower in a pile of wood, in a gutter, etc., and inside: in the cellar, at a retailer, in the bread oven, St Peter’s Chapel, Nativity Museum, the Square, Church, Museum of Old Tools, Val del Prat Oil Mill, Peïra-Cava resort, Turini.

What’s special about this event? A magical, unique moment to share with family or friends during the Christmas holidays…

From the smallest, in half a hazelnut, to the largest, which measures 10 m long, ranging from the most original to the most unusual: in a box of matches, a wooden clog, gourds, wrought iron, knitted, the nativity scenes never cease to surprise throughout your journey!

At the village entrance, get a map of the village at the “reception chalet”, then follow the signposted circuit that takes you to discover the nativity scenes!

This magnificent nativity circuit is organised by Maison de Pays de Lucéram in collaboration with residents, associations and the municipality of Lucéram.

FOCUS ON THE SANTONS AND nativity MUSEUM

During your walk, you’ll notice the particular features of Lucéram’s santons: these “Little Saints” are traditionally represented in clay or terracotta, and painted. But here, you can find them dressed up, in wood, fabric, wrought iron, salt dough, chalk, wax, clothes pegs, knitted … and, the height of originality: in chocolate and champagne corks! Their size varies from the smallest, called a “Puce”, to those standing 60 cm tall, and up to life-sized examples.

Finally, be sure to visit theNativity Museum on Place Adrien Barralis: from the most humble to the most sophisticated, more than 150 of the most precious works are on display. Here, among other things, you’ll discover: the nativity scenes of the world, the superb and very moving Neapolitan nativity scene, the smallest examples, including those made in a half-hazelnut or half-walnut, the wall of “gourds”, contemporary examples, the traditional Provençal nativity scene, santon figurines of all sizes and different materials…

During the Nativity Circuit, the museum is open every day. At other times, contact the Maison de Pays.
