Walks in and around Saint-Tropez

Known the world over for its port, yachts and gentle way of life, Saint-Tropez is also a starting point for hiking. From the beach, paths rise above the coastline. Like hyphens between a bustling seaside resort and lush nature, they offer some of the most beautiful circuits on the Côte d’Azur. On a hike in Saint-Tropez, oscillate between land and sea. From the warm sand of the beaches to the exhilarating scent of the Provençal garrigue, all the regional gems are revealed.

Walk along the Saint-Tropez coastline

Lining the indented coasts of the gulf, the coastal path opens the way to a wild Saint-Tropez. Little by little, the harbour and its luxurious ships give way to cliffs covered with green bushes. From beaches to coves and from hills to capes, this loop will help you discover the town’s best-kept secrets. Under the Côte d’Azur sun, swept by a little sea spray, take this coastal path.

Baie des Canebiers, plages de la Moutte and des Salins… Each stage is the discovery of a must-see place in this seaside resort in the Var. With your feet in the water, on the sand or on a gravel path, to soak up Provençal nature and the colours of the Mediterranean, this hike in Saint-Tropez is ideal.

With your family or as a romantic getaway, discover the hiking trails in Saint-Tropez

On the Maures massif, taking advantage of the Mediterranean winds, windmills spread their wings across the azure sky.

And in the midst of the aerial ballet, near Saint-Tropez, a hike takes you along the path of these stone giants.

The little circuit des moulins de Paillas in Ramatuelle presents little difficulty. We recommend it for a first hike with the kids or as a couple for a picnic with a view over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Starting in the village of Ramatuelle, the circuit gradually leaves the urban world behind to lead you towards wooded hills.

Just before entering beneath the peaks, make a stop at the town’s cemetery where actor Gérard Philippe is laid to rest.

The adventure then continues until you reach the summits where windmills stand alongside an exceptional panorama of the Saint-Tropez coastline.

Enter the heart of the Maures massif. From the town of Sainte-Maxime, the sentier du Deffend opens the way to the heights of the Golfe de Saint-Tropez. Gradually, the coastal scenery gives way to the garrigue. On a path strewn with colourful flowers, the gradients gradually increase until you reach the summits. Along the way, as you wind your way through the trees of this forest massif, if you’re lucky, you may come across a Hermann’s tortoise, a protected species endemic to the Var.
