Top 8 Instagrammable spots in Antibes

In Antibes, there are plenty of places to take very “Instagrammable” photos. From its ramparts to its cape, between architecture and greenery, here are the best spots for quality shots:

SPOT INSTAGRAM 1: PORT-ABRI DE L’OLIVETTE

Elected the first wonder of Antibes Juan-les-Pins by its residents, the port-abri de l’Olivette is also the most photographed spot in the commune!

It is set in a picturesque setting, to the west of the Cap d’Antibes and has been home to the traditional colourful pointus since 1910.

A stunning contrast to Antibes’ large modern port, Port Vauban, which is home to large yachts!

The Port-abri de l’Olivette has retained its authenticity and original spirit. Managed by the Olivette association, set up to promote and conserve the site, the port comes alive with events (pointus races, fishing competitions), discoveries of the local flora and fauna and restorations of traditional pointues.

The different colours and authenticity of this place makes for instagrammably unique shots!

SPOT INSTAGRAM 2: LA BAIE DES MILLIARDAIRES

More commonly known as the Baie des Milliardaires, Anse de l’Argent-Faux is located at the foot of the Villa Eilenroc, in Cap d’Antibes. Guaranteed success for taking great photos in this public cove.

23km of coastline form the Baie des Milliardaires with a wide variety of landscapes. The natural setting of the Cap d’Antibes with its fine sandy beaches, wild intimate coves and turquoise waters, attracts tourists for a stroll. It’s unthinkable not to stop and photograph this incredible spectacle.

This spot makes one of Antibes’ wildest beaches accessible. Previously only accessible, the Cap coastal path has made it pedestrian-friendly since 2011. Enjoy this trail surrounded by villas hidden in lush Mediterranean vegetation.

To find the Baie des Milliardaires, you need to take Avenue Mlle Beaumont. Continue until you reach the Villa Eilenroc gate. Next to it, you’ll find a footpath, take it for about 5 minutes before you get there!

Wow effect guaranteed!

SPOT INSTAGRAM 3: LES REMPARTS

The ramparts, built by engineer Raymond de Bonnefons in the 17th century, protect the old town of Antibes. Divided into four bastions – the Rosny Bastion, the Guise Bastion, the Dauphin Bastion and the Royal Bastion – two large arched gates lead into the heart of the old town. Steeped in history, the Antibes ramparts will take you on a journey through time.

Walking through them gives you a panoramic view of the Port Vauban and the Plage de la Gravette. But also an incredible view of the Mercantour National Park, thanks to the mountains that hug the landscape in the background.

Arrived at the viewpoint of the Gravette beach, if you descend from the ramparts and return to the port, turn right and another staircase will take you to the continuation of the ramparts which will lead you to the end of the port to Jaume Plensa’s Nomade, a sculpture made of lace letters.

Get ready for some shots filled with cachet!

SPOT INSTAGRAM 4: LE NOMADE DE JAUME

Installed facing the sea, overlooking the Port Vauban and its Quai des Milliardaires, the monumental 8-metre-high work by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, has truly established itself as… the greatest of great men.

It’s made up of an assembly of steel letters and inside which you can step inside, sit back and dream… It’s even more impressive at night when it’s illuminated, with the black sky in the background.

You can take some lovely photos of this sculpture, inside it and also photos of the beautiful view from the ramparts where it stands.

SPOT INSTAGRAM 5: LE PORT VAUBAN

Situated at the foot of the ramparts, the Port Vauban is worth a good number of stunning photos on its own. As Europe’s largest marina with a water surface area of 25 ha, numerous yachts and boats are moored here, adding a lush touch to the landscape.

The panorama is crowned by the Vauban fort standing with character behind the boats. Visitable, its architecture is based on mathematical art and its 4-hectare protected park make Antibes shine.

Smile then and the landscape will do the rest!

SPOT INSTAGRAM 6: LE MARCHÉ PROVENÇAL

It’s hard not to fall under the spell of this old-fashioned market. The Provençal market is held on the Cours Masséna every morning. Under the arcades of this covered market, market gardeners sell their fresh local produce, charcuterie and mountain cheeses, sun-drenched fruit and vegetables, specialities, spices or even a little nod to Grasse, city of flowers and perfumes, with stalls decorated with their bouquets; all simmered in a warm, authentic atmosphere.

It’s a festival for the senses: taste buds on alert as you sample all the specialities available, the scents of spices mixed with the fragrances of flowers and colours full of eyes…

Here’s an embarrassment of riches to choose from for colour-packed photos!

SPOT INSTAGRAM 7: LA COMMUNE LIBRE DU SAFRANIER

La commune du Safranier is actually a special one: it’s a free commune right in the heart of Antibes’ old town. Located from the rue du haut Castellet to the rue de la Touraque, it was founded in the 1960s by a band of merry Antibes locals who wanted to perpetuate local traditions and celebrate, including the popular Bal National des boules carrées on 14 July in the Place du Safranier.

Wander through the narrow streets of the old town to find the corner full of charm for an enchanting shot.

From the Provencal market, take rue de la pompe heading towards the sea and skirt the commune du Safranier along the seafront: the view is fantastic!

SPOT INSTAGRAM 8: THE OLD TOWN

Is it possible to get to Antibes without strolling through the old town? You can’t! The old town of Antibes is a maze of narrow streets lined with pretty shops, cafés and restaurants. A place full of charm and character, with typical Antibes architecture enhanced by the surrounding scenery.

Feel free to stroll around, get lost in these little streets and even do some shopping in the Rue Sade, Rue Clemenceau and Rue Thuret.

And for some great photos, the alleyways are all more beautiful than the next.
