Top 8 instagrammable spots in Antibes

There are several areas in Antibes to take extremely “instagrammable” photos. From its ramparts to its cape, between the architecture and lush greenery, here are the best spots for quality snaps:

INSTAGRAM SPOT 1: PORT-ABRI DE L’OLIVETTE

Voted the number one marvel of Antibes Juan-les-Pins by its inhabitants, the Port-abri de l’Olivette [port-shelter] is also the most photographed spot in the town!

Located in a picturesque setting, to the west of Cap d’Antibes, it has housed the traditional colourful “pointus” [fishing boats with a pointed bow] since 1910.

A striking contrast with the large modern port of Antibes, Port Vauban, which is home to grand yachts!

Port-abri de l’Olivette has been able to keep its authenticity and its original spirit. Managed by the Olivette association, created to promote and preserve the location, the port is animated by events (pointu races, fishing contests), discoveries of the local flora and fauna, and food from the traditional pointu fishing boats.

The different colours and the authenticity of this location allow for some unique instagrammable snaps!

INSTAGRAM SPOT 2: THE BAIE DES MILLIARDAIRES

Better known as the Baie des Milliardaires [Billionaires’ Bay], the Anse de l’Argent-Faux is located at the foot of Villa Eilenroc, in Cap d’Antibes. Beautiful photos at this public cove are a guaranteed success.

23 km of coastline creates the Billionaires’ Bay with a wide variety of landscapes. The natural setting of Cap d’Antibes with its fine sandy beaches, intimate wild coves and turquoise waters attract tourists for a walk. Not stopping to photograph this incredible spectacle is not worth thinking about!

This spot makes one of the wildest beaches in Antibes accessible. Formerly only accessible by boat, the Cap coastal path has made it accessible to pedestrians as of 2011. Enjoy this path surrounded by hidden villas in lush Mediterranean vegetation.

To get to the Baie des Milliardaires, you need to take Avenue Mlle Beaumont. Continue up to the gate of Villa Eilenroc. Beside this, you’ll find a footpath, take this for about 5 minutes and you’re there!

Wow-effect guaranteed!

INSTAGRAM SPOT 3: THE RAMPARTS

The ramparts, built by the engineer Raymond de Bonnefons in the 17th century, protect the old town of Antibes. Created in four bastions – the Rosny, Guise, Dauphin and Royal bastions – two large arched gates allow for entering the heart of the old town. Steeped in history, the ramparts of Antibes will take you back in time.

Walking here allows for a panoramic view over Port Vauban and La Gravette beach. But also an incredible view over the Mercantour National Park, thanks to the mountains that hug the back of the landscape.

Once at the viewpoint for La Gravette beach, if you go down from the ramparts and return towards the port, turn right and another staircase allows you to access the next section of the ramparts that will lead you to the end of the port, towards the Nomade de Jaume Plensa, a lacework sculpture of letters.

A photo spot full of cachet!

INSTAGRAM SPOT 4: THE NOMADE DE JAUME

Installed facing the sea, overlooking Port Vauban and its Billionaires’ quay, the monumental work standing 8 m high by the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa is truly imposing like…the tallest of tall men.

It comprises an assembly of steel letters, and you can enter inside it, sit down and dream… It is even more impressive in the evening when it is illuminated, with the dark sky in the background.

You can take beautiful photos of this sculpture, from inside it, as well as photos of the delightful view from the ramparts on which it is located.

INSTAGRAM SPOT 5: PORT VAUBAN

Located at the foot of the ramparts, Port Vauban is worth a good number of magnificent photos all on its own. As the largest marina in Europe with a water surface of 25 hectares, numerous yachts and boats are moored there and add a touch of luxury to the landscape.

The panoramic view is crowned by Fort Vauban, standing behind the boats with style. Open to visitors, its architecture is based on the mathematical art and its protected 4-hectare estate makes Antibes shine.

So, smile and the landscape will do the rest!

INSTAGRAM SPOT 6: THE PROVENCAL MARKET

It’s difficult not to succumb to the charms of this market of yesteryear. The Provencal marketis held on Cours Massena every morning.  Under the arcades of this covered market, market gardeners sell their fresh local produce, their meats and cheeses from the mountains, their sun-drenched fruit and vegetables, their specialities, their spices and even a small nod to Grasse, the city of flowers and perfume, with stalls blooming with bouquets, all mixed in a warm and authentic atmosphere.

It’s a feast for the senses: tastebuds eager to try all the specialties available, the fragrance of the spices mixed with the aromas from the flowers and the colours everywhere…

There’s a wide choice for taking photos packed with colour!

INSTAGRAM SPOT 7: THE FREE COMMUNE OF SAFRANIER

The commune of Safranier in fact has one specific feature: it’s a free commune right in the heart of Antibes old town. Located from Rue du Haut Castellet to Rue de la Touraque, it was founded in the 1960s by a band of joyful people from Antibes who wanted to continue local traditions and celebrate, especially the popular Bal National des Boules Carrées on 14 July on Place du Safranier.

Meander through the narrow streets of the old town to find the delightful area and take an enchanting photo.

From the Provencal market, take Rue de la pompe, heading towards the sea and walk along the Commune du Safranier from the seaside: the view here is fantastic!
