A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE OCEANOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF MONACO

A navigator and pioneer of oceanography, attracted to travel and science from an early age, Prince Albert I led 28 scientific campaigns and devoted a large part of his life to the study of the oceans.

To promote the dissemination of knowledge in oceanography, he created a temple entirely dedicated to the sea: the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.

Created in 1906 and recognised as being of public interest, the Foundation is supported by two institutions: the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco and the Maison des Océans in Paris.
