A LITTLE HISTORY OF MONACO’S OCEANOGRAPHIC MUSEUM!

A sailor and pioneer of oceanography, attracted by travel and science from an early age, Prince Albert I directed 28 scientific campaigns, dedicating a large part of his life to the study of the oceans.

In order to promote knowledge of oceanography, he created a temple entirely dedicated to the sea: the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.

Created in 1906, this foundation, which is recognised as being in the public interest, is supported by two establishments: the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco and the Maison des Océans in Paris.
