There are plenty of surprises in store for you in this 400 m² museum in Saint-Tropez, with a host of interactive features including touch screens, scale models, the chance to sit in cars, open drawers and touch the furniture. The visit takes place over three floors: the ground floor is devoted to temporary exhibitions; the first floor to the history of the Gendarmerie in Saint-Tropez and the building itself, the saga of the Gendarmes from 1964 to 1982, the cinema professions and an introduction to cinema in Saint-Tropez. Finally, there is an area devoted to the theme of this holiday resort and its preserved scenery.

A tribute to the 7th Art!

A real gem that’s a must-see when you visit the Côte d’Azur! The collection of the Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma de Saint-Tropez includes acquisitions and loans from private collectors and institutions such as the Archives de Vincennes, the Commission du Film du Var, the Cinémathèque française in Paris, the Société Nouvelle de Cinématographie and the Institut Lumière in Lyon. It also includes previously unpublished interviews with actors and people who were present when films were shot in Saint-Tropez.

Nearly 70 films have been shot in the Bay of Saint-Tropez since 1930.

Mythical scenes and legendary actors seem to have left their mark on the town. “Et Dieu… créa la femme”, “L’année des méduses”, “La Piscine”, the famous “Gendarme de Saint-Tropez” series, and so on. They all have one thing in common: they were filmed entirely or in part in this famous village. With its famous bell tower, its villas perched high up with sea views, its beaches and narrow streets, Saint-Tropez offers a dream natural setting for film-makers from all over the world.
