“Vive la Reine” from 11 February to 1 March 2026 – A World First
For the first time in its 200-year history, the Nice Carnival will be governed by a woman. This 152ᵉ edition highlights the great heroines and female figures who have shaped the world. A symbolic revolution carried by a new motto: “Long live the Queen!”
Heroines from history and fiction will take centre stage in a spectacular parade blending tradition and modernity. This edition will pay tribute to these female figures – warriors, scientists, artists, political leaders – transforming Carnival into a platform of empowerment and inspiration for future generations. Among the names that could inspire this edition are Olympe de Gouges, Anne Frank, Joséphine Baker and Marie Curie.
Artistic and creative scope
The opening includes the Queen, her reigning companions, floral floats, the Carnival Herald from the city’s districts, flag bearers, musical troupes, dancers, and foreign guests – a cross-section of the Carnival’s players who come together to present themselves to the public.
