Explore Mandelieu differently

Sports, nature and the great outdoors

Between the sea and the Esterel mountains, Mandelieu is an exceptional playground.

Here are the top activities not to be missed:

  • Kayaking: explore the creeks and coves of the Estérel from the sea. Guided or self-guided outings for all levels.
  • Electric foiling: fly silently over the water in this new-generation gliding sport. Available from the first session with an instructor.
  • Paddle: glide gently along the bay of La Napoule. Ideal for beginners, with calm waters and protected spots.
  • Golf: the Royal Mougins Golf Club, founded in 1929, is one of the oldest in France. Fairways shaded by umbrella pines, sea views guaranteed.
  • Mountain biking: the Estérel massif offers signposted trails for all levels: red rocks, fragrant scrubland, panoramic sea views. Guided outings available.

VISIT THE CHÂTEAU DE LA NAPOULE AND ITS GARDENS

Rising out of the sea with its magnificent red stones and towers: a site not to be missed!

Rising out of the sea with its red stones and crenellated towers, the Château de La Napoule is one of the Côte d’Azur’s secret gems. In the early 20th century, the American artists Henry and Marie Clews transformed it into a total work of art: whimsical sculptures, gardens with the “Remarquables” label overlooking the Bay of Cannes, and a museum dedicated to Henry’s creative universe. Accessible from Cannes in just a few minutes, and open to all (free entry for under-10s), it’s a cultural and family getaway not to be missed.

Just below, a small sandy beach invites you to extend your visit with a swim facing the ramparts.

Lunch by the water

In Mandelieu, seaside restaurants are part of the experience. Between the port of La Rague and the beach at La Napoule, there are a number of places where you can have lunch, dinner or just a drink with your feet in the sand, facing the Mediterranean. Local cuisine, a variety of atmospheres and guaranteed sea views: here’s our selection of the best restaurants on the coast.

Here are our favourites:

  • Baia Plage: brunch, lunch or sunset in a decor of driftwood and beige cushions. Fresh, sunny cuisine.
  • Playa Chica: good vibes and generous dishes: grilled fish, crisp salads, fruity cocktails. Special mention for the aperitif.
  • Cala Mia: tapas, sharing platters and colourful dishes in a cheerful, bohemian atmosphere. Perfect with friends.
  • Dolce Farniente: view of the Château, vintage decor, home cooking. This little shack in the port of La Napoule has the soul of a place you keep to yourself.

Hiking at Mont San Peyre

360° panoramic views of the Côte d’Azur

Rising 314 metres above Mandelieu, Mont San Peyre is one of the most accessible and rewarding hikes in the Esterel. The climb, which is suitable for all abilities, winds through the fragrant scrubland and red volcanic rocks characteristic of the massif.

At the top, the panorama is exceptional: the bay of Cannes, the Lérins islands, the snow-capped Alps in the background and Mandelieu at your feet. Allow around 2 hours round trip for an ideal walk with family or friends, preferably early in the morning to take advantage of the light and avoid the summer heat.

Explore Mandelieu with your family

Quiet, safe and well-equipped, Mandelieu is an ideal family destination. Here are the best places to keep the kids occupied:

  • Play areas :
    • Parc Robinson: large lawns, picnic tables, plenty of shade. On the banks of the Siagne.
    • Aire de Capitou: wooden structures, sheltered picnic areas. Parc Emmanuelle de Marande, av. Général Garbay.
    • Parc de l’Argentière: pétanque, table tennis, table football, chess, draughts and two zip lines. Bd de la Tavernière.
  • Family beaches:
    • Plage des Dauphins: fine sand, gentle slope, calm water. Perfect for splashing around and building sandcastles.
    • Plage Robinson: easy access, snack bars and toilets nearby.
    • Plage du Château de La Napoule: magical and fun, ideal for a walk with your feet in the water.

Stroll around the market and savour local produce

Mandelieu’s local markets are a weekly event not to be missed. Local fruit and vegetables, mature cheeses, olive oil, flowers and local crafts: a great way to immerse yourself in Provencal life and take a few flavours of the Côte d’Azur home with you. Each district has its own market – check with the tourist office to make sure you don’t miss the one nearest you.

And once a year, in November, Mandelieu hosts the Salon Saveurs et Terroirs, a large gathering of Frenchcraftsmen and producers who come to offer the best of their regions. Charcuterie, wines, cheeses, chocolates, festive products: the ideal opportunity to prepare for the festive season with exceptional products.
