To completely get away from it all, take the « Sentier de Tirepoil »: this former customs path, which runs along the coast of Cap d’Antibes, has become a protected tourist trail – an unforgettable walk in the wild with intimate little coves and past the huge private properties that dot the coastline. Don’t miss this invigorating walk, accessible for everyone – it’s a must when you’re in Antibes. Allow 2 hours there and back between the Garoupe beach and the famous Villa Eilenroc.

VISIT THE MUSÉE PICASSO

At the highest point of the ramparts of the old city stands Château Grimaldi, home to the fabulous Picasso museum, a reference for all lovers of the master. Head to Place Mariéjol, in front of the Château, to appreciate the old stone setting, before entering and exploring the rich collection of the artist’s works, who in his heart was an Antibes native. Located in the heart of Antibes old town, the Provençal market is a must when visiting Antibes. From Tuesday to Sunday morning, on Cours Masséna, in front of the Town Hall about fifty local producers give a real feel of Provençal gastronomy in a profusion of colours and intoxicating aromas. Florists, market gardeners, fishmongers, butchers, and cheese makers will all be there! A few meters away, don’t forget to browse the flower-lined streets in the district of Safranier – or more exactly the free commune of Safranier.

Facing the ramparts of old Antibes and extending as far as Fort Carré, Port Vauban is home to some of the largest yachts in the world – over 100 meters long! This former 16th century military fort, called « Fort Carré », is now a listed monument because of its remarkable architecture and preserved natural environment. The fort is the last bastion of Antibes, on the coast road heading to Nice. Sitting on the Saint-Roch peninsula, it is built on a rocky outcrop, 26 meters above sea level.
