Saint-Paul de Vence, a major art centre within its bastioned walls, is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES on the Côte d’Azur. A journey to meet the artists, the inhabitants and 1000 years of history! Enter the world of art at Saint-Paul-de-Vence

The LIGHT that enchanted Marc Chagall, “THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THERE IS”, has attracted many artists and continues to inspire contemporary artists in the countryside or within the walls of the village. From the narrow streets and squares to the Fondation Maeght, ART IS HERE AT HOME. A stained glass window by Folon; a collage by Prévert at the Colombe d’Or; a fountain by Braque at the Fondation Maeght; a Venus by Tobiasse – the creative history of Saint-Paul de Vence can be retraced ad infinitum as you stroll through the village.

The exhibition of the moment at the Fondation Maeght!

“BARBARA HEPWORTH: ART & LIFE” UNTIL 2 NOVEMBER 2025

The Fondation Maeght is presenting an exceptional retrospective devoted to Barbara Hepworth, a major figure in twentieth-century sculpture and a pioneer of modern British art. Curated by Eleanor Clayton, this groundbreaking exhibition traces Hepworth’s entire artistic career, from her early modernist sculptures of the 1920s to the monumental commissions of the end of her career. The exhibition reveals how the artist was able to integrate multiple influences into his sculptural work: music, dance, science, space exploration, politics and spirituality. Through emblematic sculptures, study drawings and photographic archives, complemented by the exceptional presentation of Carving (1932) – the first work with a rare “pierced form” to be loaned by a private collection – the Fondation Maeght highlights the unique creative universe of this visionary artist who revolutionised the perception of modern sculpture.
