On the road to the Lubaïra pass, in her workshop, Françoise displays her creations: village houses and cribs, made from wood and slate from the Roya valley.
Compagnons des santonniers d'Aubagne, she makes our Christmas cribs.
This artist has developed a passion for these little village houses, which she reproduces in miniature to the nearest millimeter.
The creator works meticulously for 8 to 10 hours a day in her workshop. It takes her around two days to create a classic house, and up to three weeks for the larger pieces.
First of all, Françoise scours her local stream for stones, breaking them up with a hammer, then "stripping" and "regulating" them with a pair of cutting pliers to make regular pebbles and give them that flat effect. She then decorates them with moss or vegetation.
