As a painter, AKA has developed a unique pictorial universe combining abstraction, colour and spontaneity. He works on various media, including glass, canvas and Xuan paper, a traditional Chinese paper recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage and used for calligraphy.

In his works, colour becomes a vehicle for emotion and visual pleasure, while his brushstrokes invite freedom, the unexpected and spontaneity. Drawing on his scientific training and studies in colorimetry and photorealism, the artist explores abstraction to bring out living, moving forms, like energies in transformation.

The name AKA originates in Ghana, in reference to the Akan tribe. Born in Ivory Coast, the artist moved to Grenoble, France, in the late 1980s. He then worked for several years in the Uzès region, where he founded the La Tour de Guet art space, before moving to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. In Saint-Paul de Vence, he now draws his inspiration from the Mediterranean light and the village's exceptional artistic heritage.

His studio is a place of constant creation, where each work is born from the moment and the emotion of the moment. Each piece is unique and conveys a particular energy, an encounter between the artist, the material and the present moment. Through his work, AKA seeks to convey a part of this universal quest for emotion, meaning and eternity.

Always open to exchange, the artist welcomes visitors to his studio to share his world, his techniques, his materials and his sources of inspiration.

Among the artists who inspire his thinking and work are Anna Baldaccini and Charles Stratos, as well as major figures in modern and contemporary art such as Jackson Pollock, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marcel Duchamp, Claude Viallat, Pierre Soulages, Francis Bacon and Alberto Giacometti.

His works have been presented at several events and art fairs, including Art Up Grenoble, Art Montpellier, Art3F Monaco, My Art Goes Boom in Paris, and La Tour de Guet.
