boulevard du riou, 06660 Auron, Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée
Panoramic walk then in the forest, very pleasant in summer and really easy thanks to the Blainon chairlift open every day in July, August and weekends in June and September.
Easy level / 1h30 descent / elevation gain -512 meters
Two panoramic spots punctuate the route: the natural belvedere known as "des Chamois" (Chamois Mountains), then the wide Blainon Pass.
From the Auron Tourist Office (b.5), follow the GR5 trail via the Riou ski slope, then turn left (b.9) along the path leading to the Chastellarès plateau (b.10, 11) and take the Blainon chairlift (with a previously purchased pedestrian pass). At the chairlift exit (2112 m), turn left and follow the trail along the ridge to join the GR5 and the Blainon Pass (b13a). Panoramic views of the resort and the border mountain range to the left, and the Roya Valley and Mont Mounier to the right. Descend left along the GR5 marked in red and white on a shaded trail through a forest but crossed several times by mountain bike trails. Be careful and stay on the trail. Pass marker 13 and continue to the natural Belvedere called "des Chamois" (1810m) which offers an unexpected view of the "3000" of the border chain, but also downstream on the hamlets of Douans and Bourguet on the edge of the Tinée. Continue on the GR5 among spruce and fir trees to soon join a wider track (b12), in a larch wood, which takes you back to the foot of the Blainon chairlift and return by the GR5.
