The complex of buildings built for the PLM, inaugurated on 30 October 1928 at the junction of the two lines, Cuneo-Ventimiglia (operated by the FS) and Nice-Breil (operated by the PLM), is characterised by an architectural identity in the "Nice" style.
The Breil station required extensive earthworks in the natural slope of the site, to create a vast plateau to accommodate this international station.
The Breil railway installations, commissioned in 1928, were calibrated for the large amount of cross-border passenger and freight traffic at that time.
On the one hand, there are the buildings "à la niçoise", which combine simplicity of volume with a variety of standardised elements: the size of the doors and windows, the tiled roofs, the large cantilevered reinforced concrete platform windows, the round arches of the large bays, as well as the terraces with their terracotta railings and pergolas, are used in a variety of ways on the stations, and in a more formal way on the houses of the gatekeepers or the passenger shelters. The red ochre paintwork on the façades and the moss green of the joinery complete the identification of the buildings.
The hangars have a modernist form with vast reinforced concrete vaults, with reinforced concrete cantilevered side canopies and large ventilation skylights at the top.
