A tributary of the Clue de la Maglia, the Vallon de Morghé offers a succession of verticals in superb water-polished gullies: a veritable festival for abseiling enthusiasts, ending with a spider's thread finish in a shady basin.
The contrast is striking between the very low flow of the Morghé valley and the generous waters of the Maglia, whose roar surprises you at the last moment. To complete the route, all that remains is to cross the cave, a furtive passage in the half-light where only a few rays of sunlight manage to creep in. It's essential to bring suitable neoprene clothing, because after an almost dry first section, the descent then becomes very watery.
Access on foot: 0 hour 05
Just after the road tunnel (680 m), descend under the bridge to reach the valley.
Descent of the canyon: 3 hours
Follow the valley and you'll soon come to the first abseils, which follow each other uninterrupted until you reach the Maglia. In all, there are a dozen waterfalls to negotiate by rope. They are all less than 30m high, with the exception of the largest, which is clearly visible from the road and measures 60m. But be careful! The large waterfall is preceded by a 20 m slope: be careful when manoeuvring the rope, as this initial slide leads directly to the 60 m vertical. At the start of this big abseil, the location of the belay is slippery and awkward, so it's a good idea to go along the ropes. In addition, there is a tufa lip halfway along the route: the last canyoneer must take care to position the rope above it, otherwise he or she will not be able to abseil back.
Once you reach the Maglia, a very aquatic section with a few jumps leads to the grotto, and the exit path is just beyond it.
Return on foot: 1 hour 30 minutes
Take the rising path that quickly reaches a balcony above the river. Take this path down to the right as far as the Giandola car park.
Option with shuttle bus: 1 h 30
From the escape route, continue along the Maglia as far as the final basin, from which the left bank path leads off.
