Inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann's story, this enchanting tale tells the story of young Clara, who receives a nutcracker in the shape of a little man as a gift. On Christmas Eve, the toy comes to life and whisks her away on a magical adventure: a battle against an army of mischievous mice, a transformation into a charming prince, and then an enchanting journey through a fairy-tale kingdom where flowers and snowflakes dance and dance.

The two-act ballet was first performed in December 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. It remains one of the most frequently performed ballets in the world, thanks to its captivating music and spectacular choreography.
