In 1863, the village of Cros-de-Cagnes was placed under the protection of Saint-Pierre, patron saint of abundance. The chapel was built by the fishermen and topped with a bell tower. The Feast of St Peter and the Sea is celebrated every year in July.
The small church was built voluntarily by the inhabitants of Le Cros and was completed in 1866. A statue of Saint Peter was brought from the church in Haut-de-Cagnes. The bell tower was built in 1900 by the Nice architect Pachiaudi, from the Eiffel school. In 2005, the ‘Association de la chapelle Saint-Pierre’ launched a fund-raising campaign to renovate the church.
