
Between drawings and paintings, the exhibition will inhabit the Villa Cameline, taking us through each of the rooms into dreamlike fictions. Underwater scenes, nocturnal scenes, reminiscences of the memory of different places, including the Villa Cameline.
"I believe that an artist's goal is to reveal a certain vision of the world while raising awareness, but we must not fall into the trap of politics. Art must be a world of awakening. Born in 1987, Charline Bourcier is a French artist who lives and works in the south of France. A visual artist and associate professor, she defended a thesis in 2015 entitled "The Dislocations of Pictorial Space" under the supervision of Khalil M'Rabet.
Her works seek to raise awareness of the societal and environmental issues that threaten our current ways of organizing and thinking.
His painting captures the eye in a kind of mise en abyme linked to the very composition of the painting, organized around multiple, interlocking scenes. The artist offers unsettling images, which, through their juxtaposition, create unexpected and meaningful associations.
His work is akin to figuration, augmented by a process of alteration involving visual processes such as dripping, rubbing, covering, and even incompleteness. The purpose of alteration here is not to destroy but to alter.
In his charcoal drawings, we find the same play of alteration as in his paintings: erasure, the appearance of images, and unexpected associations that challenge the viewer.
