Based on Charlotte by David Foenkinos ©Editions Gallimard. Winner of the 2014 Goncourt des lycéenNEs Prize and the 2014 Renaudot Prize.
“Charlotte” is a duty of remembrance, an emotional lesson to be shared between generations, but above all, an exceptional novel, performed in the theater.
It all begins with the portrait of Charlotte. Slowly, it comes to life and tells us: “This is my life.” The tone is set. We will witness the life story of a young Jewish painter, Charlotte Salomon, through her desires, her torments, her artistic journey, and ultimately her deportation to Auschwitz.
The adaptation of this novel, beyond its historical aspect, is above all a play where the emotion of the living takes precedence over the simple reconstruction of the facts.
