The Conservatoire de la Châtaigne de la Roya (Roya chestnut conservatory) brings together male and female chestnut growers committed to creating a local chestnut industry. It offers flour, cream and even beer made from its harvests.
The association's activities are divided into several sections:
- Revitalization of the Roya chestnut grove by prospecting for and bringing back into production land under chestnut cultivation;
- Adding value to the fruit and diversifying products by setting up a chestnut processing workshop, mainly without inputs;
- Conservation, renewal and promotion of the region's chestnut-growing heritage through the creation of a chestnut arboretum adapted to the area, which could eventually form part of an educational and tourist circuit of heritage crops.
