Corsican singing and cistre
Xinarca offers a repertoire based on traditional Corsican monodic song: sacred song and traditional mountain song (old songs and compositions).
He is accompanied by a rare 16-string instrument, the "Cètera d'Oletta". This is the only original Corsican cistre (230 years old) still played today.
This ancient 16-string Corsican cistre virtually disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century, along with its repertoire.
The last man to play it died in 1934, and with him went this oral tradition, the memory of which has never been recorded.
